INSTILLING A LOVE OF MOVEMENT
FOR LIFE.

Established in 2015 - and with over 30 franchises and counting, we’re engaging thousands of people in movement each week all over the UK.

But we’re still only just getting started, as we strive towards our goal of engaging 1 million people in movement per week.

By the age of 16, 80% of children have left movement never to return again.

This is a deeply concerning trend driven by complex factors with no single solution. However, the leading reason is consistently reported as a lack of fun. Importantly, "fun" doesn't mean aimless play. Children define it as being challenged, trying new things, competing, and doing their best. It’s about the joy of participation itself, not external rewards or rigid structures. This aligns with both research and real-world experience, showing that fun is rooted in autonomy, variety, and intrinsic motivation.

Despite this, the majority of youth sports, estimated at over 90%, are competitive and adult-led. These environments are often shaped by adult expectations and values, which don’t always match what children find enjoyable or meaningful. In contrast, when children take part in play-based activities where they have choice and control, their enjoyment noticeably increases. When asked why they like these sessions, many respond simply, "Why wouldn’t I enjoy them? I get to choose what I do."

This highlights the importance of designing movement experiences that prioritise children's perspectives over
adult-driven structures.
